Observer Media Group Inc., the owner and operator of National Observer, is being sued for defamation in Vancouver courts.

The claim involves articles published in 2015 and 2016. They originally stem from an investigation into the diary of Senator Mike Duffy.

Observer Media Group is defending the defamation claim and a trial date has not yet been set.

A notice of claim with the time-stamp of May 5, 2017 was filed in the Supreme Court of British Columbia’s Vancouver Registry, listing the plaintiff as Vivian Krause.

The notice of claim, and the response to the civil claim, are available publicly at British Columbia Court Services Online.

In addition to Observer Media Group, defendants include founder and editor-in-chief Linda Solomon Wood, special assignments reporter Jenny Uechi, national columnist Sandy Garossino, former environmental reporter Mychaylo Prystupa and managing editor Mike De Souza.
