Two of Canada’s most respected independent news organizations, Le Devoir and Canada’s National Observer, are partnering to deliver in-depth, bilingual coverage of the 2025 federal election. This collaboration will ensure Canadians from coast to coast to coast have access to rigorous, fact-based political reporting at a pivotal moment in the country’s history.

Founded in 1910, Le Devoir has been a defining voice in Canadian journalism for over a century, known for its editorial independence and commitment to holding power to account. As Quebec’s leading French-language independent newspaper, it has played a crucial role in shaping political discourse and investigative reporting.

Canada’s National Observer, launched in 2015, has quickly become a leader in investigative journalism, with a strong focus on climate, politics, and public accountability. The publication has broken major political stories and is recognized for its deep, solutions-focused reporting on issues that matter to Canadians.

“Bringing our journalism to a wider audience is a step forward for independent media in Canada,” said Brian Myles, Publisher of Le Devoir  "Partnering with Canada's National Observer strengthens our ability to serve the public interest at this critical moment for the country. We are particularly excited about this collaboration with a media outlet that, like us, values public interest and environmental journalism, and we hope this partnership marks the beginning of a lasting collaboration."

Linda Solomon Wood, Publisher of Canada’s National Observer, highlighted the importance of this collaboration. “I am delighted to be working with Le Devoir, a publication with an extraordinary legacy of journalistic excellence,” Solomon said. “This election will shape Canada’s future, and Canadians deserve independent, high-quality reporting that helps them make informed choices.”

This partnership strengthens independent journalism in Canada and bridges the country’s linguistic communities through shared, in-depth election coverage.
