Canada's premiers have left a series of meetings in Washington expressing hope that the renegotiation of NAFTA will be quick and relatively pain-free, rather than a drawn-out bargaining slugfest.
Brian Pallister will be working with other premiers to promote free trade during a trip to Washington, but he's taken aim at the Alberta and Ontario governments in a video posted online.
"We’re standing alone. I’m not afraid of that and I’m not anything but proud of the fact we’re willing to do that," Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister told reporters.
Manitoba is one of only two provinces that wouldn't support the climate agreement finalized in Ottawa following a first ministers meeting between the premiers and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Denver-based Omnitrax has not commented on its decision this week to close the seasonal port this summer and scale back freight shipments on the rail line it owns.
