Donate to keep Canada's National Observer's journalism growing

When you donate, you help us hire more journalists and reach audiences on more platforms

When Canada’s National Observer launched our fundraising campaign in early April to take our climate reporting to the next level, we aimed high. We set out to raise $150,000 to support our team and publish more accountability journalism that would hold Canada’s leaders in check. It was a lofty goal, but we knew that as the climate emergency worsens, we’ll need all hands on deck to save a world on fire.

We’re so excited to share that you didn’t just help us meet our goal. You helped us smash it. Now we ask you to help us continue to increase our financial resources to produce more of the stories Canada's communities need.

We’re not just humbled; we’re blown away. Together, our supporters contributed $200,000 in six weeks to CNO’s spring fundraiser. In the campaign’s first week alone, your donations got us to 40 percent of our goal. As the weeks went on, some of you even pitched in more than once! We couldn’t even count the number of notes of gratitude from donors, thanking us for our uncompromising journalism that they don’t get from other national outlets.

When we need reminders of why we do this work, we’ll think back to those notes, and the support you have given to climate reporting in Canada. It’s an incredible feeling to know you have our backs. Now, we get to show that we have yours: your donations ensure we can expand our work pushing for action on the climate crisis, and take care of our team while we’re doing it. We can’t wait to dig in even deeper—we’re doing it as you read this note.

You helped prove that in the face of inaction, mass people power is as potent as ever. We’re going to keep that in our hearts. Keep it in yours, too. We need each other. Your support keeps Canada's National Observer's reporting capacity growing.
