About Amalie Wilkinson

Amalie Wilkinson (they/xe) is a queer rights advocate, tree planter, environmental activist, podcaster and student based in Canada. They have been involved in the stop ecocide movement since 2021, when they became a youth ambassador for Stop Ecocide Canada. Subsequently, they founded Stop Ecocide Toronto, the movement’s first city-level chapter. From 2022 to 2024, they helped launch and grow Youth 4 Ecocide Law as one of the network’s first co-leads. Volunteering in the stop ecocide movement, Amalie has run petitions to the Canadian government, co-ordinated worldwide events, spoken at international conferences like the UNFCCC’s COP28 and the UNs 2023 Water Conference.

Amalie recently completed an undergraduate degree in international relations and peace, conflict and justice studies at the University of Toronto. During their degree, Amalie was an active organizer with Climate Justice U of T. They continue to work with various climate strike coalitions in Toronto, as well as queer liberation and other grassroots justice movements. Recently, Amalie launched a podcast called Queers Hug Trees to bring attention to the intersections between 2SLGBTQIA+ justice and environmental justice struggles.
