The analysis from World Weather Attribution and Climate Central researchers comes at the end of a year that shattered climate record after climate record as heat across the globe made 2024 likely to be its hottest ever measured and a slew of other fatal weather events spared few.

A decade of attribution research shows that “burning fossil fuels causes climate change and climate change causes death and destruction.”

Environment and Climate Change Canada says the results of its rapid analysis into the mid-June heat wave over parts of Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada show it was made two to ten times more likely due to climate change.
