I’d been treesitting in protest of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion (TMX) for months. While my friends and I were literally holding the fort, conservationists were doing critical work on the ground, writes Emily Kelsall.

When I first heard of the treesit, I imagined something easily accessible and low to the ground. How wrong I was. 

"While I was decorating my locker, politicians were locking in heat domes and atmospheric rivers," says Emily Kelsall, who spent a year on and off in a treesit protesting the TMX pipeline project.
