About Patricia W. Elliott

Patricia W. Elliott is an associate professor at the University of Regina School of Journalism, where she teaches investigative journalism, magazine journalism, and print and online news reporting. She is also editor-in-chief of J-Source, Canada’s daily journalism news website. During her 30-year journalism career, she has worked on assignments around the globe, including Pakistan, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Myanmar. She authored a book on ethnic conflict in Myanmar, and co-produced a documentary film on underground journalism in the region. Prior to her teaching work, she was an active freelancer for magazines such as Saturday Night and Canadian Living, earning recognition from the Canadian Association of Journalists and National Magazine Awards for outstanding investigative journalism. In addition to the popular press, she publishes regularly in academic journals. She holds an MA in Media Production and Studies and a PhD in interdisciplinary studies, with a research focus on non-profit media.
