The CEO of the National Post's parent company reportedly wants his journalists to be more conservative. Given what conservatism looks like in 2019, that strategy is a direct threat to marginalized groups.

In recent weeks and months, yellow vest demonstrations across Canada have frequently attracted far-right extremists and hate groups through their Facebook groups. As Canada's federal election fast approaches ⁠— with all the fierce rhetoric that the campaign is sure to elicit ⁠— real-world consequences, which are already in evidence, could quickly pile up.

Around 12,000 people marched the 2.7-kilometre stretch along René-Lévesque Boulevard. The course began symbolically in the former LGBTTQ+ sector and ended in the heart of the Gay Village, where 300,000 people were in attendance, according to organizers.

More work is needed to see if the social media platform’s fact-checking project is making the grade, according to a new transparency report.
